  • panic attack?

    12 april 2005

hi, on my way home from the road trip i felt really weird. i was having the best time ever but on the road somewhere between there and here i suddenly felt like i couldn’t breathe, or well, i could breath but it was like someone sat on my chest and my head at the same time. i thought i was going to die. it was so scary. so we stopped the car and i got out to get some fresh air and water and the it was better.

yesterday i felt the same thing – almost. i decided it was time to go to the hospital to see what the hell was going on so i did. they had no clue of what i was experienced and tried to blame it on my heart, but i don’t know, my heart was beating fine during my weird mood rushes. on both occations i had caffeine a few hours before. the first time i had a cup of coffee and was sweating like crazy from it. that was just before i was starting feeling all crazy.

so, since i had perfect blood/pulse/etc results, they let me go this afternoon and i still am a big questionmark.

anyway, if anyone recognize my behaviour or have experienced anything similar, let me know, because it’s kinda crazy.

    1. Yup, that was a good ol’ panic attack all right. Y’all hippie with no tongue for the cups o’Joe better cut to the chase.

    2. Yes, what you experienced was, indeed, a big ol’ hairy panic attack. I have had many of them. First one when I was 10. Some of the PAs I’ve had seemed to intense to be just a PA, but luckily that is all it was.

Was this your first? Have you had any more since? From personal experience, I have found that life events can affect the onset of PAs . . . but so can really strong coffee (this is more true for those prone to PAs).

    3. it’s sort of funny i had a similar thing for the first time ever last week in the subway. it was stopped for a long time in a small part of the tunnel and i couldn’t breathe suddenly. i was really worried about how long i could bare sitting there. when i think of it, maybe it also happened once when i was watching a movie and the character was trapped underground. maybe its a spacial thing like claustrophobia? maybe its germany? ;)
